Does Niantic actually take steps against long time abusers of the Wayfarer system?
Hello all.
For several months now, I've been silently battling with a player in one of the nearby cities who's been abusing the Wayfarer system in several ways.
First I must say I never actually interacted with this person, but he's been harassing a close friend of mine, thus pulling me into the matter (apart from his constant spamming in the Wayfarer system).
It began with a large quantity of description edits to stops in the nearby city. It's a bit hard to translate because this is not an English-speaking country, but I'll try my best - at least 20 stops or so had an edit to their descriptions submitted saying "editors in [city name], we remember everything" - worded like a threat, if that wasn't clear.
My close friend clarified the context to me - apparently my friend and several other Wayfarer users in the area had a fight with that person. That person liked making stops with references to real like people - i.e., submitting a stop as "[Player name]'s Playground" instead of the site's actual name. My friend and others confronted the person about it, resulting in a fight, in which the insult "babies" was tossed around.
Thus it was very clear who was making those edits to those descriptions and what they were referring to.
I've reported as many of those edits as I could via the Abuse Report Form, explaining the situation every single time. I never got any kind of communication from Niantic about it, but had hoped they received them and were taking appropriate actions against that person.
Cue a bit of silence... until recently.
A bunch of title and description edits to existing stops in a nearby city (it's a metropolitan area) have started showing up in the system. This time, they were very repetitive - the title was "[Player's Name] Stark" and the description was "The North Remembers".
Guess which person is apparently known to make Game of Thrones references all the time... and only their friends were mentioned in those edits?
The breaking point for me was when they edited a stop marking a memorial for LGBT victims of the Holocaust, changing the information with their idiotic joke. As an LGBT person myself, I found that infuriating.
I've reported that as well, and a couple other identical edits to other stops.
But now another peak was reached - I just stumbled across a stop submission, in the same city of course, in an area known to be frequented by that player. On the surface the submission seems harmless, but within the several lines of text they put as description, they included a direct insult of my friend (with my friend's first name - it's hard to translate from our language unfortunately, in addition to it being plain childish and bad), AND their "trademark" line of "The North Remembers" at the end of the description.
My friend was understandably very hurt by this, after a long long time of trying to ignore that person and just reporting their ongoing abuse of the system - which evidently resulting in NOTHING so far.
Thus, my question - does Niantic actually do anything with all the reports of abuse we've been sending them all this time? Or do we have to suffer this person's abuse alone?
Needless to say we're incredibly frustrated.
Thanks for reading,

Does Niantic actually take steps against long time abusers of the Wayfarer system?
Hi folks,Just providing an update on this thread before closing it off. Although there have been some questions as to whether the Wayfarer abuse form is monitored I can assure you that it is. I checked in on a number of the abuse cases included here and all of them were reviewed and action taken in many cases (I'm talking like in the 100s of actions based on our findings). You can also check out our update from a few weeks ago where we talk about abuse that we're addressing at large.
Please keep in mind that the Wayfarer abuse form is and continues to be the best place to report instances of abuse of the system.
Finally, I'll remind you that this form is intended to be temporary; the team is working on reporting within the tool rather than having to report via the form - that's just an interim solution for it.
