ハンクだ。アフガニスタン、パキスタンからインドまでのどこかをまだ移動しているところさ。具体的な地名を挙げることはできない。ヒューロン社の「実働」部隊であるストラテジック・エクスプロレーションズと思われる勢力からまだ追跡されているからね。アントワーヌ・スミスという名の危険人物が率いている。僕は「失踪と詐術」を駆使して逃れているわけだ。

スミスを振り切ったことで、前の僕がポータルに残したブレッドクラムを回収してきた。新たな発見はどれもかつての僕が知っておいてほしいと僕に託した記憶を再構築させることとなるし、それにかつての僕は間違いなく思い当たるところがあったのだろう。ブラッドクラムに残された記憶のひとつに、ダルサナレンズと呼ばれる対のプライムアーティファクトへの言及があった。僕にはそれが何であるかはわからないが、僕には何のことだかわからないけど、僕自身が手掛かりを託したのであれば、重大なことであるに違いない。実際にわかってるのは、その名前だけなんだけど、あぁ、どういうわけだかそれは全て賢者プトレマイオスに繋がってるんだ。

さて、レンズを議論する前に、まずは歴史から学んでおこうか。クラウディオス・プトレマイオスは古代ローマ帝国においてアレクサンドリアで数学、天文学、地理学、占星術に極めて大きな影響力を与えた学者だ。およそ800年後のペルシャ天文学者アブー=マーシャルは、このクラウディオスが紀元前30年にローマ帝国の属州となったプトレマイオス朝エジプトの王族であったと主張しているね。

どうしてこれが重要となってくるかというと、アレクサンダー大王とその側近たちは皆、ほぼ間違いなくマグナスであったと考えていいからだ。13人から成るエンライテンド・センシティブの秘密結社のことだ。シャポーはここインベスティゲート・イングレスのサブレディットでこの仮説の要約へ実によく貢献してくれたわけだけど、かいつまんで言えば、アレキサンダーの東征は実のところリカージョン・アーティファクトの確保にあったのではないか、と僕は考えているんだ。アレキサンダーがその時既にシミュラクラであったならば、そうしていたに違いない。そして今や僕もその立場だ。僕らは大切なことに辿り着こうとしているんだ。

アレキサンダーが32歳の生涯を終えたのち、その遺体を持ち去ったのは誰だったろうか。盗んだのはプトレマイオス、プトレマイオス朝のファラオだ。プトレマイオスがアレキサンダーの亡骸を持ち去ったのであれば、彼はアレキサンダーが実際には何であっかを知っていたに違いない。それは歴代のプトレマイオス朝ファラオを経て伝承されてきた秘密が、初めて庶民へと下ったクラウディウス・プトレマイオスへと伝わったものだったのかもしれないね。ローマ帝国での名を考えるに、賢者プトレマイオスがサーティンマグナスの一員であった可能性は極めて高いだろうね。彼はエックスエムのことを知っていたんだ、そうとは呼んでいなかっただろうけど、それが何であるかはわかっていたに違いない。

The Legacy of the Ptolemaic Dynasties

Hank again. Still on the run somewhere in between Afghanistan, Pakistan and India. Can't be more specific. I've been tracked by forces I believe to be from Strategic Explorations which is the 'action' arm of Hulong. They are led by a dangerous character named Antoine Smith. I did a 'disappearing and deception' act and I think I eluded them.

Since I shook Smith, I've been picking up breadcrumbs left in Portals by the former me. Every new discovery fuels the process of reconstructing the memories my old self wanted me to have.

And my old self was definitely onto something. One of the breadcrumb memories mentioned a pair of Prime Artifacts called the Darsana Lenses. I don't know what they are... but if I left this clue for myself, they must be important. All I really have to go on is the name. Oh, and that somehow it all ties back to Ptolemy the Wise.

Okay, so before I get too deep into the Lens discussion, it's history lesson time. Claudius Ptolemy was an extremely influential mathematician, astronomer, geographer and astrologer who lived in Alexandria in the early days of the Roman Empire. Some 800 years later, Persian astronomer Abu Ma'shar asserted that Claudius had been of the royal line of Ptolemies, the Ptolemaic Pharaohs that reigned over Egypt until it became a Roman province in 30 B.C.

Why does all of this matter? Well, remember, Alexander the Great and his closest confidantes were almost certainly a Magnus - a cult of 13 Enlightened Sensitives. P.A. Chapeau did a pretty decent job encapsulating the theory here in the Investigate Ingress subreddit, but - long story short - I believe Alexander's military campaign in Asia was really about acquiring the Recursion Artifacts. Which he would only be doing if he was already a Simulacrum. Now, stick with me here... we're getting to the good part.

After Alexander died at 32, guess who stole his body? Ptolemy I Soter. The first of the Ptolemaic Pharaohs. If Ptolemy I took Alexander's body, he must have known what Alexander truly was. And that's a secret that could have been passed down through all of the Ptolemaic Pharaohs to Claudius Ptolemy, the first of the line to be a civilian. The first of the line to take a Roman name. So it's highly likely that Ptolemy the Wise was an initiate of the 13MAGNUS cult. He knew about XM. He wouldn't have called it that... but he knew what it was.
