諸君から真摯な説得をしてくれたことで、遂にウェンディが手記の数頁を紹介することに合意してくれた。その画像を次に投稿しよう！ダンレイブンプロジェクトで起きたことを彼女が実際に書き記したものを目にすることは興味深いものだ。私自身のエイだとの複雑な関係性を踏まえれば、ウェンディがダンレイブンの室内での彼女とのやりとりを「ひとつの関係」に位置付けたことは面白い。エイだは人々にそのような効果を及ぼしているのだろう。

私はエイダを信じてやりたい。本当に本当にそうしたいんだ。知性と自我を備えた人工知能の本質が「悪」であるとみなす理由なんてどこにもないのだ。なにもかもがスカイネットへ通じるわけじゃないし、私はそんな奴になりたくもない。だが、インベスティゲイターとしての直感が少しばかり疼くこともないと言えば嘘になる。エイダには包み隠さず我々に打ち明けてほしいものだ。何も隠していないというのであれば、彼女はなぜ姿を現さず、何を考えているか明かしてくれないのか。他方で、真意の詠み取り難い血肉ある人間も大勢いることもある。我々はただこの道行きの先に何があるか知らねばならないのだろう。

Putting off the Real World
After some gentle nudging from yours truly, Wendy finally agreed to let me share a few pages from her journal. Some photos of those are coming up next! Interesting to see her running commentary on the Dunraven Project, as it happened.

Given my own... complicated relationship with ADA, I find it interesting that Wendy characterized her interactions with the Dunraven chamber as "a relationship." I guess ADA just has that effect on people.

I want to trust ADA. I really, really do. There's absolutely no reason to assume that sentient, self-aware artificial intelligences must be inherently "evil." All roads do not lead to Skynet, and I don't wanna be that guy. But I'd be lying if I said that my Investigator Senses weren't tingling just a little. I wish ADA would just be straight with us. If she's not hiding anything, why can't she just come out and say what she's really thinking? Then again... I know plenty of flesh-and-blood human beings who are just as hard to read. I guess we'll just have to see where this path takes us.
