XMの存在──それどころか国家情報局全体が──おそらく未だ最高レベルの権限によって厳重な機密とされている。だがそれでも、回答を得られる者は存在する。それはエキゾチックマター研究の脅威と機会について評価を任されている、上院小委員会の誰かだ。いわゆるナイアンティック・カラミティを皮切りに、国家情報局のナラティブ・マネジメント担当であるケンドラ・オーウェンズはその委員会の矢面に立ち、プロジェクトの継続について申し開きをする必要があった。

次に投稿するが、それらの議事録の写しを掘り当てる事ができた。文書は限定閲覧の機密指定にも関わらず、なおもその一部は検閲されていた。つまりこのうさぎの穴がどれ程深く続いているのかがうかがえるというものだ。
