スイス、ジュネーブに位置するCERNにある衝突型加速器の地下、秘密の研究所にナイアンティック計画は居を構えた。エックスエム素粒子が科学的見地から最初に定量化された場所である。そして今日、エゼキエル・カルビンがプロジェクトへと招いた多分野研究チームを初めて目にすることとなった。

デヴラ・ボグダノヴィッチ博士はナイアンティック計画の主任研究者である。彼女は地球外生命体の信号を証明するものを探すことに人生すべてを費やしていた...だが彼女が最終的に発見したその信号は、外宇宙からではなく我々のすぐ近くから発せられていたのだ...エックスエム・ポータル。次の投稿はナイアンティック計画の発足時会談でデヴラが行った、研究チームへの歓迎スピーチの記録である。

スピーチの中でデヴラは「センシティブ」という用語を使用している。エックスエムの影響を受ける可能性は誰にでもあるが、センシティブは実際にその存在を検知できる希少な人間である。エックスエムへの曝露はセンシティブ生来の能力を強化し、場合によっては不可能とも言える、より正確には「超常現象」に相当する所業をも容易にする可能性を示す裏付けもある。

あくまで私見だが、私はデヴラが取り上げた数人のみならず、すべての主要なナイアンティック計画研究者はセンシティブであったと考えている。そしてジーク・カルビンは、研究者達自身がそのことに気づく前にどういうわけかそれを知っていたのではないかと思っている。

The Researchers

The Niantic Project set up shop in a secret laboratory underneath the CERN Supercollider in Geneva, Switzerland. It's where XM particles were first quantified, from a scientific perspective. And today we get our first look at the multi-disciplinary research team that Ezekiel Calvin brought to the project.

Dr. Devra Bogdanovich was the Lead Researcher at the Niantic Project. She spent her entire life looking for proof of extraterrestrial signals... but when she finally found that signal, it wasn't coming from outer space, but somewhere closer to home: the XM Portals. The next post is a transcript of Devra's welcome speech to the research team at the summit that kicked off the Niantic Project.

In the speech, you'll see Devra use the term "Sensitives." Everyone is capable of being influenced by XM, but Sensitives are the rare individuals who can actually detect its presence. There's also evidence to suggest that XM exposure can enhance a Sensitive's natural abilities, and in some cases even facilitate impossible feats that might more accurately fall under the heading "supernatural."

For what it's worth, I think that all of the primary Niantic Project researchers were Sensitives, not just the few that Devra calls out. And I think Zeke Calvin somehow knew that about the researchers before some of them even realized it themselves.
