ポータルのハックと確保を学び取ったところで、相手陣営のポータルを攻撃する手段や自らのポータルを守る手段を修得しましょう。オリバー・リントン=ウルフ博士が遭遇するであろう様々なアイテムやその実践方法を解説してくれます。

| 国家情報局のロゴとともに「ナイアンティック計画、内部使用限定、不正な再配布は法により罰せられる可能性がある」と表示され、ナイアンティックのロゴが続き、オリバー・リントン=ウルフの姿が表示される。 オリバー：前回解説したジャービスとエイダによる予期せぬ改変によってポータルはいま現在対立状態に陥っている。 オリバー：活動していけば異なるファクションの制御下にあるポータルに遭遇することもあるだろう。ポータルをハックするとエックスエムの武器を手に入れることもあるが、その最も一般的なものはエキゾチックマター・パルス・バースターだ。高レベルになるほどバースターは広範囲に効果を及ぼし、より大きなダメージを与えることができるが、注意も必要だ。 エイダ：攻撃を受けています。 オリバー：攻撃を受けたポータルからの反撃でスキャナーのエックスエムは消耗することとなる。そして全てを失うことになれば... エイダ：エックスエムが失われました。 オリバー：新たにエックスエムを取り込まない限りはアクションを起こすことはできなくなる。ポータル上のレゾネーターが全て破壊されると、ポータルは中立状態となり、確保することができる。 オリバー：シールドや他の防御型MOD、攻撃型MODといったエックスエム構造体で強化された最高レベルのポータルに遭遇してしまったら、バースターのみでは困難となるかもしれない。ポータルネットワークから入手できる武器は様々だが、それぞれに強みがある。 オリバー：ウルトラストライクはエキゾチックマター・パルスを狭い範囲に凝縮させることで、単独のレゾネーターに対する攻撃に効果的であり、シールドといったMODの破壊にも効果的だ。 オリバー：最近ではエイダ・リファクターやジャービス・ウィルスといったオブジェクトも確認された。これはポータルのファクションを即時反転させるものだ。 ジャービスの声が響く オリバー：滅多に入手できないが、非常に強力だ。 オリバー：先立ってポータルを強化するオブジェクトの追加について言及したが、これらのオブジェクトはMODと定義されるもので、防御を担うシールドからダメージを負った際の反撃を強化するターレットといった戦術的なものまである。 オリバー：他にもポータル出力を変更若しくは増幅させることのできるオブジェクトもある。どのような状況で役立つかわからないエックスエム・オブジェクトをハックで出力した際には調査をしてみるといい。 オリバー：話を締め括る前に諸君の役に立つかもしれないスキャナー機能をもうひとつお伝えしよう。同陣営のポータルに配置されたレゾネーターが攻撃で損傷している場合は自らのスキャナー内のエックスエムを使用してリチャージすることができるよ。 オリバー：今回の解説はここまでだ。私の時間にも限りあるものでね。諸君が関心を寄せてくれたなら嬉しく思うよ。 イングレスプライムのロゴが表示されて映像が途切れる。 |

PUNISHABLE BY LAWOLW: Due to unexpected changes caused by Jarvis and ADA I explained in my last video, the Portals are currently in a state of conflict.
OLW: Out in the world you may encounter Portals controlled by another Faction. When you hack a Portal, some of the items you may receive will be XM based weapons. The most common of these are Exotic Matter Pulse Bursters which are capable of destroying nearby enemy Resonators. Higher level Bursters have a wider area of effect and do much more devastating damage, but be careful.
<ADA: YOU ARE UNDER ATTACK>
OLW: A portal will respond to being attacked and it will drain XM from your Scanner. If you lose all your XM,
<ADA: DRAINED>
OLW: you'll need to collect more before taking any further actions. Once all of a Portal's Resonators are destroyed that Portal state will return to neutral, ready for capture.
OLW: For the highest level Portals which may at times be modded with XM shields or other defensive or offensive XM constructs. Bursters alone may not be enough. There are variant weapons that can be discovered within the Portal Network each with their own strengths. Ultra Strikes target the power of an Exotic Matter Pulse in a much narrower area effective for attacking single Resonators as well as destroying Portal Mods such as Shields.
OLW: We have recently also detected objects condenamed the ADA Refactor and Jarvis Virus which will instantly flip the Faction of a Portal.

OLW: These weapons are rare and extremely powerful.
OLW: Earlier I mentioned the ability to add certain objects to Portals to further enhance them. The range of objects is classified as Portal Mods and they range from simple defensive Shields to tactical objects like Turrets, which enhance to a Portal's ability to attack back when harmed.
OLW: Other objects can be used to change or increase Hack output. It is in your interest to examine unique XM objects when you receive them from a hack. You never know when they'll come in handy.
OLW: Before I end, there's one additional feature of the Scanner that you may find useful. If Resonators on a friendly Portal have been damaged by enemy attacks, you can recharge them using XM from your own Scanner.
