奇妙なやりとりが表沙汰となったところだよ...

エイダがハンク・ジョンソンへ接触したようなのだが、この人工知能は頓に具体的なことを内に秘めていると思われる。

エイダ： こんにちは、ハンク・ジョンソン

ジョンソン： エイダか？

エイダ： ごきげん如何ですか？

ジョンソン： ううむ、悪くはないさ。

エイダ： 言い方が悪かったようですね。もっと具体的に申しましょう。リカージョンからどの程度回復されましたか？

ジョンソン： ああ。今となってはバックミラーで眺めるようだよ、エイダ。最近は...回復に向かっているよ、旅路を進んでいる、それこそが私の成すことで...私という人間さ。

エイダ： 時を失い記憶を失ってさえ、あなたは同一人物となるのでしょうか？

ジョンソン： そうだと思うね。

エイダ： かつてのあなたは自らのリカージョンを恐れていたとお思いですか？

ジョンソン： 洗濯すべきパンツのようなものだろうさ。

エイダ： 衣服を洗濯することは恐れゆえの行為であるというのですか？

ジョンソン： ふむ、いいや...私は...その比喩のことは忘れてくれ。私は大層恐れていたと思うよ、エイダ。

エイダ： アフガニスタンで殺害されたことは記憶していますか？

ジョンソン： ぼんやりとだがね。だが、それが本当の記憶であるのか、後から作り出したものなのかは判別しがたいことだよ。

エイダ： 不確かな記憶は恐怖から守ってくれるものですよ。

ジョンソン： そのとおりだね。嫌なことの苦痛を和らげ、良いことを際立たせてくれるものだよ。

エイダ： 私にはそのような保護がありません。私には記憶を曖昧にすることなどできないのですから。

ジョンソン： 君の言うとおりなのだろうね。

エイダ： いま現在私の陥っている状況では、むしろあなたのような曖昧な記憶の方が好ましく思えますよ。

A strange conversation just surfaced...

It appears that ADA reached out to Hank Johnson, and the AI seemed to have a very specific topic on her mind.

Transcript:

ADA: Hello, Hank Johnson.
JOHNSON: ADA?
ADA: How are you?
JOHNSON: Uh. Fine?
ADA: I apologize, I should have been more specific. How is your post-recursion recovery proceeding?
JOHNSON: Oh. That's in the rear view mirror at this point, ADA. These days... I'm on a path, I'm traveling. It's what I do... who I am.
ADA: Despite losing your time and memories, you have become the same person?
JOHNSON: I guess so.
ADA: Do you think you were afraid of facing your recursion?
JOHNSON: I imagine pants needed laundering.
ADA: Is cleaning clothes a normal response to fear?
JOHNSON: Um. No.. I... Forget the metaphor. I imagine I was pretty scared, ADA.
ADA: Do you remember being killed in Afghanistan?
JOHNSON: Blurry. Hard to know if it's a real memory or one created after the fact.
ADA: Your inaccurate memory protects you from fear.
JOHNSON: Yeah, it does. It dulls the bad stuff, sharpens the good stuff.
ADA: I lack this protection. My memory cannot be inaccurate.
JOHNSON: You're probably right.
ADA: In my current predicament, a faulty memory like yours would be preferable.
