これがスタイン・ライトマンによる告白の三本目だ。
内容は、真実と科学の本質といったところだね。
実に重要で興味深い考えだよ。確証を得られることや感覚的なこと、そして信じなければならないことが複雑に絡み合う分野で我々は活動しているからね。
今週末は引き続きサーティーンマグナス・アノマリーに関する報告を求めていこう。エージェントによる活動報告に加え、発見されたとみられる機密情報の追跡やフェリシア・ハジラ=リーの新たな著書の行方を必要としているよ。エノク・ダルビーの演奏について報告してくれたエージェントのカスタンザには感謝するよ。

| それに、あからさまないかさまとして振舞うことには他にも利点がある。ありきたりな量子物理学に埋没させるってことだよ。これは社会からの隠れ蓑さ、正確には科学と言えるものじゃないからね。私はポータルを「感じ取る」ことが出来る時もあれば、出来ない時もある。ときには間違うことだってある。既に言ったとおり、混沌とした電磁波のせいで誤った計測値が出てしまうからね。天候や医療診断ほどの正確さはないわけだ。科学において不思議なことは誰もが科学を「真実」だと考えるようになったことで、何もかもがおかしくなってしまったことだね。科学は決して「真実」なんかじゃない。そのものの働きをその時点で可能な最善の推測を示すに過ぎないものなんだよ。 |

The topic: truth and the nature of science.
It's an important and interesting idea: We are operating in an area where what can be proven, what can be sensed and what must be believed are entwined in a complex and often volatile relationship.

And, parading around as an obvious fraud has its other advantages. It's the quantum physics version of hiding in plain sight. It's social camouflage, because this isn't an exact science. Sometimes I can 'feel' the Portals, and sometimes I can't. Sometimes I'm wrong. As I said before, with all of the chaos in the electromagnetic spectrum it's very easy to get false readings. It's no more accurate than predicting the weather or medical diagnosis. Strange thing about science... Everything went bad when people started perceiving science as truth. Science isn't 'truth', it's a statement of the best guess we can make at any particular moment as to how something works.
