久方ぶりにケン・オーウェンのことを耳にしたね。
国家情報局において当時の局長であるユエン・ニィのもとで終焉を遂げたナイアンティック計画に従事し、閉鎖後にはHAZDATAに、それを終えた後には国家情報局へ復帰を果たしたことは、首を挿げ替えられても重用されているということであり、彼の能力が有事に精通する証左だろう。
このようなやりとりを聞くのもこれが初めてのことではない。前回、オーウェンは自らの「スポットライト隠蔽」戦略を自賛していたが、私の知る限りでは成功裏に進められている。主要メディアでイングレス・スキャナー技術を取り上げたこともあるが、超次元世界のシェイパー・イングレスといった事実は依然として表沙汰とはならず、偽情報とも呼ばれている私やスザンナ・モイヤーらによるものに留まっている。

It's been a while since we heard from Ken Owen.
From the NIA, working under then director Yuen Ni on the ill-fated Niantic Project, to Hazdata after the Niantic Takeover, and then back to the NIA after their work was done, his ability to remain employed no matter who's in charge is probably a testament to his mastery of spin.
It's not the first time we've heard this conversation. Last time, Owen was singing praise for his 'hide in the spotlight' strategy. As far as I can see, it's worked. While the mainstream media has occasionally chanced upon the Ingress Scanner Technology, the fact of the transdimensional Shaper Ingress has remained something confined to hushed conversation and what they colloquially refer to as the Fringe Media, folks like myself and Susanna Moyer.
The real meat of this transcript, though, lay on its perimeter: Jay Phillips' vehement denial of any NIA association with Susanna Moyer, and Owen's mention of plans to disrupt the Ingress Report's credibility. The louder they deny things, the more I grow suspect. It leads to an interesting series of questions... Who has means, motive and opportunity to disrupt and inject messages into the Ingress Report? I'm looking to build a list of plausible suspects so we can investigate further.

PHILLIPS: What in the hell are we paying you for, Owen? I told you to keep Ingress, XM, Shapers and especially The Niantic Project out of the media. Now, every time I open a paper I see something about our supposedly secret project. Are you going to make this stop?
OWEN: Jay, I can't control the fact that somebody on your team leaked the scanner and there are hundreds of thousands of people hacking portals. I can, however, shape the news. You will notice XM harvesting is represented as a 'game' in every article. The scanner is called an 'app.' You have no idea how much 'leverage' I had to exert to make that happen and despite my smoke and mirrors, reporters are still suspicious. If I were you, I'd figure out how to keep Ingress from ever getting out of Beta.
PHILLIPS: So what's your suppression plan for this Ingress Report? Twenty-Three weeks they've been leaking information. They're worse than Chapeau.
OWEN: Keep watching. The plan I outlined to you months ago to undermine the credibility of the show is rolling out presently. We would be further along hadn't there been other meddling. When Susanna Moyers went on the run, it became harder to 'influence' the show, I assure you it will not be a threat much longer. Speaking of which, did you ever figure out who she is? Who her crew is? Or is that something you're keeping from me for obvious reasons?
PHILLIPS: The NIA denies that she has ever had any affiliation with our organization.
OWEN: Thanks for the transparency. I'm feeling better already.
PHILLIPS: Just keep doing your job, I'll keep doing mine.
OWEN: As long as players don't flood the media, we're good. Remember, its just a game.
