昨日の私の発言には、失望の声もあれば期待の声もあったが誰もが情熱の声で応えてくれた。それは良いことだ。情熱が今後の課題を乗り越える役に立つことだろう。
私にもいろいろとある。間違いを犯せばそれを認めるが、今は己に確固たる自信を持っている。だが、ジェイ・フィリップスはどうかな。
フィリップスと私の間にも些か経緯があるが、あの男に何かしらの長所を覚えたことは一度としてない。情熱的ではあるかもしれないが残忍で頑固な男であり、当時の国家情報局長ユエン・ニィからナイアンティック計画における混乱収拾の任を負っていたことで奴は敵意を剥き出しにしていた。
本日私のもとに届いた文書に関して、相手の正体は分かっていないものの私にも幾つかの心当たりはあるが、そうだね、諸君なりに結論を導いてみてくれ。
最近はジャービスに関わることに考えを巡らせている。エンライテンドはこの男を、かつては人だったものだと私は考えているが、そんな男に尊敬の念を向けている。だが、あの男を信頼するに足る出来事は知りもしないね。フィリップスがチューリッヒで処断したことで、あの男に何が起こったと思うかい？最近になってジャービスと呼ばれている存在は実のところ何なのだろうか？その大義とやらに賛同するよう訴える中で、どのような情報を我々に提示してくれただろうか？全ては大言壮語に過ぎないのではないだろうか？エンライテンドは藁にもすがる思いでしかないのか？これまでと同様に説得力ある意見を述べた諸君にはパスコードを提供するよ。

XXXXX 混乱しているようだな。対処してくれればいいのだ。さもなければゾンビの黙示録よりもたちの悪いことが起こるぞ。私が次の選挙に敗れるわけだ、そうすれば全てが頓挫するのだぞ。 フィリップス：対処致しましょう。エンライテンドに対してカサンドラ焦土作戦を実施致します。ジャービス及びシェイパーは何とかしましょう。リントン＝ウルフは遺体袋へ詰め込んでみせます。レジスタンス・エージェントたちの知るところではありませんが、ミノタウロス以後は私が彼の者たちを陰で操っているのです。これを順調に進めていくことも可能ですが、確実に達成させるためには更なるてこ入れを行うべきでしょう。 XXXXX 君に期待しておこう。この忌々しい問題を解決したまえ。 |

My statement yesterday was met with dismay from some, hope from others, but with passion from all. That's good. Passion is going to help us drive through the challenges ahead.
I am many things. Too proud to admit when I'm wrong is not one of them, but for now, I strongly believe that the ground I'm standing on is firm. Jay Phillips, on the other hand...
Phillips and I have a bit of a history, and I've never really seen any redeeming qualities in the man. He too, is passionate, but he's also brutal, stubborn and since he was tasked to clean up the Niantic mess by then NIA Director Yuen Ni, he's been on a warpath.
The transcript I received today (the identity of the other party is unknown, but I have some suspicions) paints a... well... I'll let you draw your own conclusions.
My thoughts have been circling around Jarvis recently. The Enlightened hold this man (or, I guess former man) in esteemed light, but I've never really seen a compelling case to ascribe him any trust. What do you think happened to him after Phillips executed him in Zurich? What exactly is the entity known as Jarvis these days? What information has he provided us to convince people to join his cause? Is it all hyperbole? Are the Enlightened simply grasping at straws? A passcode, as always, for participating thoughtfully in our conversation.

PHILLIPS: Look, I killed Jarvis myself.
XXXXX I read your stinking autopsy report, and let's suppose I believe it. I can't exactly go on the Sunday shows tell that story, can I?
PHILLIPS: But you didn't read between the lines. XM and the Shapers are not like anything we've dealt with before. I can't fix this with a few bullets and a body bag. You keep asking me to clean things up, but you never give me what I need. This is not a quick fix. It never has been.
XXXXX You know what I do for a living? I listen to guys tell me that Godzilla is coming out of the ocean every day and we've all dead if we don't build an anti-giant lizard weapon. So, if you're trying to scare me, get in line.
PHILLIPS: I'm not trying to scare you, I'm -
XXXXX You made a mess. I need you to clean up. And if you don't, something worse than the zombie apocalypse is going to happen. I'm going to lose the next race, and that means everything stops. So...
PHILLIPS: I'll clean it up. I'll make Cassandra scorched earth for the Enlightened. I'll take care of Jarvis and the Shapers. I'll put Lynton-Wolfe in a body bag. The Resistance agents don't know, but I've been pulling their strings ever since Minotaur. I can keep this rolling, but I need an infusion to get things done.
XXXXX You'll get it. Just solve my damn problem.
