本日のことだが、ハリウッドの大物による新たなやりとりが明らかとなり、我々の良く知る名も再び挙げられていた。
あのゴーストアーティストが姿を消してもう3ヶ月以上になるね。

アルバート・ターラー アル、昔ながらの電報で送らせてもらうよ。電子メールでのやりとりにはうんざりだ。ああいったものは視野を狭めてしまうように思うよ。今もこの街に電報配達員がいたってことが嬉しいね。決して多くはないが、居なくなってしまったわけじゃないんだ。こうして受け取ることで本当に重要なものなのだと感じてくれれば幸いだよ。75ドルもかけたからね。君への内密の情報というわけさ。 さて、脚本に目を通させてもらったよ。君に同じく私も先のような概念実証となることを期待しているよ、まんざら悪いものでもない。率直に言えば、ほとんど悪くないと言ってもよいものだ。これまでモーガンが執筆してきたものとはまるで違うね。それは朗報と言えるだろう。 悪い点は...そうだな、特にないな。幾人かに見せたが、いずれも関心を示してくれている。こいつを進めていこうと話したよ。告知し、さり気無く伝え、絵コンテを済ませてしまおうじゃないか。低予算自主製作のようにしておき、事前に我々のもとへ来るように仕向けるのさ。どうだい？ この男に手を回したよ、タイコだ。仕事も早く安上がりになる。実際に手に入れるまでは顔も曖昧となるがね。タイコは対価を取るが然程高額ではない。奴なら数週間で何かしら用意してくれるだろう。こいつで行こう、出資に見合うものさ、いいだろう？ （署名）ハイ HS:nm |

マスターファイル （屋外）宇宙空間 - 夜 宇宙空間から撮影されたCERN研究施設の衛星写真。特徴的な「オーブ」状の建造物を視認する。 （屋外）CERN研究施設 1階部分に実験室の一部が見える。背後には先ほどと同じ「オーブ」状の建造物がある。何もかもが常日頃と変わるところはない。正面には警備員がいる。数多くの車両が駐車されており、数台のオートバイが何台かの警備車両の脇に駐輪されている。 唐突に膨大な力の奔流が解き放たれたかのように、施設全体からエネルギーが放射される。 （屋内）CERN研究施設・カルビン執務室 エゼキエル・カルビン博士が反応を示し、エックスエムのエネルギーを浴びる。
（回転）CERN研究施設の敷地近くに脈動するかの如きポータルがある。 科学者や研究者は天を貫くエックスエムの奔流あるいは噴出とも言うべきエネルギーによって損傷した設備やコンピュータを確認している。 カルビンの執務室は2階にあるが、その眼下には実験室が開けている。彼は手すりまで駆け寄ると、眼下のリントン=ウルフへ叫ぶ。
リントン=ウルフはコンピュータをぐるりと回り、カルビンの姿を探す。 |

（接近）ポータルをもとにエネルギーを「消耗」させるパワーキューブがある。 （屋内）実験室・ポータルが所在 デヴラとジャービスはポータルから逃れるように駆ける。 ジャービスがポータルへ振り返る。
スローモーション：ジャービスのエクストリーム・クローズショット ジャービスは光を放つポータルを凝視し、魅了される。何もかもが静まり返り、エネルギーが彼を取り巻き、ほぼ全身を包み込む。
ジャービスの視点 ポータルの中心で何かが動き、より合わさって形作られていく。それは人の顔。それが誰のものかは判別できない。 唐突に叫び声が挙がる。ジャービスが振り向くとともに速度が戻る。 |

スタイン ポータルの前に立ち、宙に腕を掲げる。その傍ではキャンベルが実験室内の至るところを埋め尽くすように落書きや象形文字から成る奇異なシンボルを描いている。 続いてダルビー。彼は様々なキーボードに囲まれるリック・ウェイクマン・スイタルでエックスエムに干渉している。ミューズに呼び掛けるかのように見えるが、まさしく彼の行っていることである。 （インターカット）カルビンが執務室からつながる階段を降り、ポータルの傍にあるマイノリティレポートのようなテーブルで操作を行っているリントン=ウルフのもとへ向かう。 リントン=ウルフは、ちらつくポータルの光を浴びている。
カルビンは彼の背に向かって駆け寄りつつ、叫ぶ。
デヴラ・ボグダノヴィッチ博士がジャービスを力強く引っ張る。
ジャービスがデヴラへ振り向くと呪文が紡がれる。彼女の背に、ドアから猛然とセキュリティガードが殺到し、警報が鳴り響く。 |

続々と警備員が入ってくる。デヴラとジャービスは警備員をすり抜けて解き放たれたドアから出るとコートヤードを駆ける。 （屋外）CERN研究施設・コートヤード セキュリティカメラ視点 そのどれもが駆け抜けるジャービスとデヴラを映し出さない。それはあたかもシステムが意図して二人を避けたかのようだった。 駐車された多数の保安車両とともに1台のオートバイもある。 ジャービスはそのオートバイへ猛然と走る。
ジャービスは飛び乗り、デヴラがその背によじ登る。 ジャービスがスロットルを開くと、オートバイは突進する。 出口ゲート 二人が迫るとゲートが上がる。そして... |

ゲートガードは驚く。このようなことが起こるとは想定されていなかった。
ジャービスのオートバイは猛然とゲートを抜け、夜の闇へと消え去る。 視点は駐車場へ移る。 警報音が鳴り響き、警備員が車両へと駆け入り、後を追っていく。 3台目の警備車両が通り抜けようとしたそのとき、突然地面から障壁が上がり、その警備車両は側面に激突する。 （屋外）ジュネーブ市街の車道 ジュネーブ市街の闇に落ちた街並みをオートバイが疾走する。 ジャービスはしがみつくデヴラへ振り返る。 ジャービスは二人に迫る警備車両に気づく。 デヴラはジュネーブ中央駅の看板を目に留め、ジャービスに伝える。 |

l'm sending this over by messenger for old times' sake. Enough with this email crap. These things just make me look illiterate.I was happy to find there were still messengers in this town. Not many of them, but they haven't gone extinct. Hope you felt real important when the guy showned up. Cost me $75. Tip is on you.
So I looked at this script. Like you, I expected it to be a POC like the last one, but it wasn't half bad. I'll be honest, not even a quarter bad. Nothing like the stuff Morgan usually writes. And that's the good news.
The bad news is ... well, there isn't any bad news. I showed it to some people and they're interested. I say we put this in development and see what happens. Let's make some announcements, do some whispering, and get some storyboards done. Make it sound like we've got indie financing and let them come to us on a pre-empt. Sound good?
I've got this guy, Tycho, who does boards fast and cheap. We'll be vague about the faces until we've got paper in place.
Tycho takes cash and not a lot of it. He'll spank something out in a couple weeks. Let's do this on handshake. Recession rates. You good?

RETURN TO SCRIPT DEPT.EXT. SPACE - NIGHT
A SATELLITE ZOOM in from SPACE, down toward the CERN LAB. We see the iconic "Orb" building come into view.
EXT. CERN LAB - ESTABLISHING
Ground level, looking at part of the laboratory. In the BG, the same "Orb" building is visible. Everything is normal. Guards in front. Parking lot. A few motorcycles are parked next to a couple of SECURITY CARS.
Suddenly, the entire structure seems to RADIATE with Energy, as if a huge GEYSER of power was instantaneously released.
INT. CERN LAB - CALVIN'S OFFICE - CONTINUOUS
Close on DR. EXEKIEL CALVIN as he reacts, bathed in XM energy.
DR. CALVIN (OS)
Something is very wrong...WINDER and we see the CERN LAB area near a pulsating PORTAL. SCIENTIST and RESEARCHERS monitor equipment and cmputers as they are hit by the energy: a GEYSER or FOUNTAIN of XM that is shooting skyward.
Calvin's office is on the second floor, but open to the lab below him. He rushes to a railing by his desk and yells down to LYNTON-WOLFE.
DR. CALVIN (OS)
Wolfe! Stop the test!Lynton-Wolfe spins around from his computer and looks up at Calvin.

LYNTON-WOLFE (OS)
I can't! It will have to burn itself out.CLOSER and we see a POWER CUBE infused with energy "burning" at the base of the portal.
INT. THE LABORATORY - AT THE PORTAL - ESTABLISHING
Devra and Jarvis are running at they flee past the portal, escaping.
Jarvis turns to look back at the portal,
DEVRA
No. Don't look at it.SLOW MOTION - ECU OF JARVIS
He stares, entranced, at the radiating PORTAL. Everything is silent. Energy surrounds him, almost engulfing his entire form.
JARVIS
(awestruck)
XM is ... everything.JARVIS' POV
There is something moving from within the center of the portal. A shape begins to coalesce within it. A human face. We can't tell whose it is yet.
Suddenly, we hear screaming. BACK TO SPEED as Jarvis turns to see -

STEIN
standing before the portal, arms raised in the air. Nearby, CAMPBELL is frantically scribbling over every surface in the lab in a strange set of symbols - part graffiti and part hieroglyphics.
PAN TO DALBY. He is surrounded with various keyboards, Rick Wakeman style, jamming to the XM. It looks like he's summoning a muse, which, in fact is exactly what he's doing.
INTERCUT - Calvin leaps down the stairs connected to his office and toward Lynton-Wolfe who operates a Minority Report style table near the portal.
Lynton-Wolfe is bathed in the flickering light of the surging portal.
LYNTON-WOLFE
(calmly)
It's exhilarating.Calvin rushes up behind him, calling-out as he approaches.
CALVIN
Put Niantic in Lockdown!Dr. Devra Bogdanovich pulls on Jarvis, forcefully.
DEVRA
Let's go ... We can hit schedule.The spell is broken as Jarvis turns to Devra. Behind her, SECURITY GUARDS barrel in through the doors. ALARM are sounding.

As more guards enter, Devra and Jarvis dash past the guards, through the open door and race out into the COURTYARD.
EXT. CERN LABORATORY - COUTYARD - CONTINUOUS
Angle on the SECURITY CAMERAS.
Each of them points away as Jarvis and Devra run forward. It's as if the system was intentionally keeping them off the cameras.
There are a number of SECURITY VEHICLES parked ahead, as well as a MOTORCYCLE.
Jarvis rushes toward the bike.
DEVRA
You know how to drive a motorcycle?JARVIS
You don't drive 'em, you ride 'em.DEVRA
Shut up and ... drive. Ride. Whatever!Jarvis hops on and Devra climbs on the back.
Jarvis hits the throttle and they are off, racing toward -
THE EXIT GATE
As they approach, the gate pops up and -

THE GATE GUARD
reacts with surprise. This isn't supporsed to happen --
GUARD 1
Why did you raise the gate?!GUARD 2
I didn't!JARVIS' MOTORCYCLE
zips through, blasting into the night.
ANGLE - PARKING LOT
AN ALARM SOUNDS and a few SECURITY GUARDS rush for their vehicles and give chase.
AS the third car tries to get through, the barrier suddenly rises back from the ground ...
KNOCKING THE VEHICLE ON ITS SIDE
... and block the exit.
EXT. GENEVA STREETS - CONTINUOUS
The motorcycle races through the darkened streets of Geneva.
Jarvis looks back as Devra hangs on for dear life.
Jarvis sees one of the Security Cars closing in on them.
Devra sees the sign for the GENEVA TRAIN STATION. She points it out to Jarvis.
