OPERATION: SAVE THE RHINO

(X-FACTION FIELD ART TO RAISE AWARENESS OF RHINO POACHING IN SOUTHERN AFRICA)

**"Since 2008 poachers have killed at least 5,940 African rhinos......

Rhino poaching is currently at a crisis point. By the end of 2015, the number of African rhinos killed by poachers had increased for the sixth year in a row with at least 1,338 in 2015. These statistics are compiled by International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) Species Survival Commission's African Rhino Specialist Group (AfRSG).

South Africa has by far the largest population of rhinos in the world and is an incredibly important country for rhino conservation. However rhino poaching levels have dramatically escalated over recent years.

1,175 rhinos were poached in South Africa during 2015, a slight decrease on the previous year when a record 1,215 rhinos were illegally killed. This is the first time the country has recorded a dip in poaching levels since 2007, when the rate of poaching began to escalate rapidly."

Because of these horrendous statistics and a tremendous love for our wildlife, it was decided that we will do an X-faction field art OP to raise awareness of Rhino poaching in South Africa.

Once the plan had been finalized, teams began to collect the keys required for the OP and 2 weeks later we were ready to go.

On Sunday, 31 July 2016 at 7AM, teams from both the ENL and the RES began the task of clearing the play box for the OP and at 9AM sharp, the fielding began.

The OP was broken up into 7 individual sets so that it could be executed in the fastest possible time to avoid any complications which may have presented themselves as a result of rogue agents etc.

FOR THE RES:

SET R1 - Tail and Lower Back
SET R2 - Belly
SET R3 - Neck and Jaw

FOR THE ENL

SET E1 - Hind Leg
SET E2 - Back
SET E3 - Front Leg
SET E4 - Horns

Thankfully The OP ran without any incidents and by 13:30 the Rhino was complete. This OP was the largest X-Faction OP ever done in South Africa.

A special thank you to everyone from both the ENL and the RES who put in a tremendous amount of effort and dedication to make this OP a success and to ensure that the final result was visible for the world to see in an attempt to help save our beloved Rhinos before they are poached into extinction.
